Pedestrian struck and killed in Lancaster [Video]

A person was hit by a vehicle and killed Tuesday in the Lancaster area.

Deputies were sent to 15th Street East and Avenue I at about 2 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

“Preliminary investigation indicates a … sedan was traveling west on Avenue I and struck a pedestrian who was walking west on the bicycle lane,” a sheriff’s department statement said.

“The pedestrian suffered major trauma and was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash,” the statement said. “The cause of the crash is still being investigated. It is unknown if speed was a factor in this crash and the intoxication on the driver of the vehicle is still under investigation.”
