WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Residents are concerned about pedestrian safety after a deadly hit and run at a Southeast D.C. shopping center on Wednesday.
A married couple was hit in the 2800 block of Alabama Avenue SE. The woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries, but her husband did not survive.
“It’s disturbing, we live around here,” said Racquel Adams.
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is searching for a white late model Ford Taurus they believe is responsible for the hit and run.

After hitting the couple, MPD said the driver fled the scene, dragging the man under the car through a Safeway parking lot before exiting around the back side of the shopping center near Denver Street.
That’s where police found his body – he was pronounced dead on the scene.
