Perry Kurtz, comedian and America’s Got Talent contestant, killed in hit-and-run at 73 [Video]

The comedian was pronounced dead on the scene in Los Angeles on Thursday.

Perry Kurtz, a stand-up comedian who appeared on America’s Got Talent, died after being involved in a hit-and-run collision on Thursday night. He was 73.

Kurtz’s manager confirmed that the comedian was the unnamed victim in a traffic accident reported by the Los Angeles Police Department early Friday morning. The LAPD confirmed that a male pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run around 11:20 p.m. near the intersection of Ventura Boulevard and Corbin Avenue in the Tarzana neighborhood. The Los Angeles Fire Department pronounced him dead at the scene.

Later, authorities arrested suspect Nathon Jaimes, 18, on a charge of Felony Hit and Run Causing Death. NBC4 reported that police found the suspect’s damaged gray Honda Civic less than half a mile away from the scene before the arrest.
