Phoenix fire task force deployed to help fight New Mexico wildfire [Video]

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A Phoenix fire task force is headed to New Mexico on Friday to assist in fighting wildfires that have ravaged an area of the state.

Fifty-one members of Arizona Task Force 1 will join the battle against two wildfires that have killed two people, destroyed hundreds of homes and forced thousands to flee. AZ-TF1 is one of 28 Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) task forces in the U.S. Its mission is to be prepared for activation and response to urban search and rescue on both a local and national level.

The Arizona firefighters are departing Phoenix around 5 a.m. for the blazes.
