Plea agreement in works for suspect in deadly 2022 gun incident [Video]

MERRILL, Wis. (WSAW) – A 30-year-old man accused of discharging a gun inside a home, killing a woman, could reach a plea agreement in his case.

Tanner Graap is charged with first-degree reckless homicide, first-degree recklessly endanger safety and illegally possessing a firearm.

Kayla Frank was 28 years old when she was shot and killed on Jan. 28, 2022.

Merrill Police said the incident was accidental. Court documents state Graap walked into a door frame while attempting to put a handgun in his coat’s chest pocket. He told investigators the handgun came forward with his finger on the trigger and fired. A woman was sitting in the kitchen and was shot in the back.

Authorities said Frank was unresponsive when first responders arrived. She was transported to an area hospital and was pronounced dead.
