Pointe Coupee Parish crash leaves one dead, four hurt [Video]

LETTSWORTH, La. (BRPROUD) – The Louisiana State Police is investigating a two-vehicle crash that killed a woman and injured four around 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 23.

Brittany L. Hughes, 36, of Hornbeck was killed in the crash.

According to LSP, a 2009 Ford F-150 was heading south on LA 1. At the same time, Hughes was driving north in a 2021 Nissan Sentra.

LSP said the Ford crossed the center line and “impacted the Nissan in a head-on manner.” Hughes was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced deceased, according to state police.

Troopers said three juveniles were in her vehicle at the time of the crash and were also not wearing seat belts. They were sent to the hospital with moderate injuries.

State police said the driver of the Ford was unrestrained and was ejected from his vehicle. …
