Police identify Grand River drowning victim [Video]

28-year-old Miguel Angel Correa, of Walker, died on Thursday, June 6 when he was swimming in the Grand River and slipped under the water. 

Bystanders spotted him struggling in the water near Riverside Park. One person jumped in and attempted to help Correa, but was unable to reach him in time.

Witnesses called 911 and the search for Correa began Thursday evening. After about two hours of searching, crews called off their efforts due to darkness. Authorities said the search had turned into a recovery effort at that point.

On Friday, the search began again, using drones, an Aero Med helicopter and boats with dive teams. Multiple agencies responded to help search. Correa was found around 12:15 p.m. Friday in about 7 to 8 feet of …
