Preparations begin as the Tri-State enters into the solar eclipse weekend | News [Video]

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — With multiple road closures and over 80,000 people expected in the region, it has some locals concerned on the congestion for the solar eclipse. 

Robert Woznicki, an Evansville local, says, “It’s something that’s rare, so of course everyone wants to see it.”

It’s been months of preparations for the 2024 solar eclipse.

Now that the day is near, some locals are worried over the turn out and what that means for traffic.

With multiple road closures and unfamiliar streets for out of town visitors, traffic concerns and public safety are at the highest concern for the Evansville Police Department.

Sgt. Trudy Day of the Evansville Police Department, says, “We’re increasing our manpower, and we’re planning all the time, and reassessing for ways that we can try to keep everyone safe.”
