Prominent Herald Sun sports journalist Sam Landsberger killed in crash in Richmond, Melbourne [Video]

A prominent sports journalist has been killed in a tragic crash in Melbourne.

Sam Landsberger, 35, was hit by a truck at the intersection of Bridge Rd and Church St in Richmond about 10.20am on Tuesday.

He was rushed to the Alfred Hospital with life-threatening-injuries where he later died.

It’s understood Landsberger was crossing the road on his way to work when he was hit.

Landsberger was an AFL and cricket reporter for the Herald Sun.

He also appeared on Fox Footy’s Midweek Tackle.

In 2022 Landsberger won the Sports News Quill for his story on Essendon’s then chief executive Andrew Thorburn resigning after one day over links to a controversial church.

Herald Sun chief football writer Mark Robinson said Landsberger was a “genuinely nice bloke” who had an “enormous” future in journalism.
