Rally brings calls for end to gun violence to Lansing [Video]

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – More than a dozen gun safety activists, from lawmakers, religious leaders, and mid-Michigan residents gathered at the state capital pressing for continued momentum to curb gun violence.

The rally comes after 6 people have been shot and killed around Lansing in the last two months. It’s a bitter reality of what activists call rampant gun violence, an issue they want to see come to an end.

“It’s absolutely necessary to look at every single casualty and realize that every single person is important,” said Johnathan Gold with Giffords, a gun violence intervention group.

Gold came from one of several gun safety groups that brought their concerns to the lawn of the state capital.
