Bill Pennington in the New York Times has a story on the number of golf cart accidents that occur. “The Center for Injury Research and Policy at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, reported last year that nearly 148,000 golf cart-related injuries occurred between 1990 and 2006. The number of cart-related injuries rose to nearly 13,500 in 2006, from about 5,700 in 1990,” he writes.

“A lot of people are getting hurt because they do things in a golf cart they wouldn’t think of doing in an automobile,” Dr. Lara McKenzie, one of the authors of the study, tells Pennington.
