Roads reopen for the season in the Gasquet Ranger District | Top Stories [Video]

SISKIYOU COUNTY, Calif. – The Gasquet Ranger District will reopen several roads on Sunday that were temporarily closed for repair operations due to the Smith River Complex. The road closures took place to provide for more public and worker safety. 

The bridge across Shelly Creek was destroyed by the Smith River Complex. There is currently no vehicle access across the creek to Forest Service Roads. But still accessible on foot or a bike. There is no estimated time of repair for the bridge at the moment.  

All Port Orford Cedar (POC) gates have reopened to the public, which were closed seasonally during the winter to protect against the spread of POC disease. 

The public is being asked to remain cautious when driving in the areas, are there are still crews working on repairs.
