Minnesota Twins star Royce Lewis had to depart Tuesday night’s game against the Detroit Tigers after experiencing tightness in his left groin. The injury occurred during the sixth inning, as Lewis clobbered a two-run double. He was visibly running at half-speed, at best, because of the injury’s immediate impact on his movement.

After the game, Lewis confirmed that he was headed for imaging to assess the severity of his injury. He also expressed pessimism that he would be able to avoid a stint on the injured list.

“Probably not very optimistic, to be honest with you,” Lewis told reporters on Tuesday about his chances of avoiding the IL. “I’m praying, but it’s usually always horrible news. So we’ll see.”
