The Russ’s Market on Havelock Avenue in northeast Lincoln had to be evacuated Wednesday after a fire, according to Lincoln Fire and Rescue.

The fire was reported at about 11:40 a.m. at the store at 6300 Havelock Ave.

Lincoln Fire and Rescue spokesperson MJ Lierman said the store was evacuated as a precautionary measure, and no injuries were reported.

The cause was improperly discarded smoking materials, Lierman said.

Officials didn’t know if the store will have to close for an extended period.

LFR estimates the damage to be $21,000, primarily to the cooler.
