The taskforce sent out a survey to county residents to better understand where people may need assistance in the event of a natural disaster.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Leaders in San Patricio County are assessing the needs of the community by creating a Health Equity Task Force that will help fill in gaps for the county’s disadvantaged population.

San Patricio County Emergency Preparedness Director Kimberley Watson said due to the county’s rural landscape, getting residents the resources they need can become difficult.

“We don’t have hospitals, we have individuals with low income, individuals who may not be able to understand English,” Watson said.

“What our gaps are, where we need to improve and how we need to reach the individuals who need the assistance,” she said.
