WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Patty Murray was joined by other leading democrats to champion a new online tool that could help patients more easily file an emergency medical treatment and labor law complaint.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services launched the service, called “Emtala”, Tuesday. Under Emtala, hospitals that take Medicare are required to provide medical screening exams for people who go to the emergency room.
