Several displaced after Hartford house fire [Video]

The fire broke out early Thursday morning and firefighters had to battle the intense flames driven by high winds.

HARTFORD, Connecticut — Nearly two dozen Hartford residents have been displaced after a fire tore through a multi-family home in Hartford.

The fire began around 4 a.m. on Grand Street at a three-story home where at least 20 people lived. Fire Chief Darius Ledas at the scene said the wind Thursday morning was a challenge.

Due to the wind, the flames quickly reached the third floor and gave the firefighters a challenge. The blaze caused the structure of the building to destabilize along with the roof as the fire ripped through there as well.

According to officials, there were no reported injuries during the fire. In all, 20 people were displaced from the building.

The American Red Cross in Connecticut is helping eight families – 15 adults, 6 children.
