A shelter-in-place in Auburn, Maine was lifted early Saturday following reports of an armed gunman, explosions and fires.

The Auburn Police Department issued the shelter-in-place around 4 a.m. Saturday, noting there was an emergency situation involving an armed individual on Russell Avenue.

A gunman was reportedly inside a garage, according to the Lewiston Sun Journal.

Power outages in the area and structure fires on Russell Avenue were also reported, the department said in a Facebook post.

There were three explosions around 2:15 a.m. as well. They were believed to be related to the initial fire. Another blast was heard shortly before 3 a.m., the Sun Journal reported, citing Auburn Fire Department Captain Chris Moretto. It is unclear if anyone was injured.

“PLEASE SECURE YOUR RESIDENCE AND SHELTER IN PLACE,” the police department wrote in its post.

Roughly two hours later, the incident was resolved and the shelter-in-place was lifted, according to another post
