Single, disabled mom of six loses emotional support dog in South Omaha house fire [Video]

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Of all the things Isabella Moore could’ve asked for after being displaced from her home, she asked for the unexpected.

“Every time somebody asks me that, I want to say Snappha. Every time.” Snappha was her 8-year-old dog. “But not many people understand the support and love we get from our animals.”

Firefighters rescued her other dog, Bella, but Snappha didn’t survive the 2-alarm fire Thursday morning in South Omaha that consumed Moore’s home. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and the family was not home when it happened.

“I kept watching for the firemen. And they did. They went in three times and cleared it as much as they could. But we couldn’t find Snappha at all. His body or his remains.”

Moore, a single mom of six children, lives with bipolar disorder and anxiety.

“Emotional support animals fill in the space,” she said.

“Snappha’s the ‘Are you okay?’ dog.”
