Sioux Falls Marcus Phillips and his Tennessee Volunteers loose and ready for College World Series [Video]

OMAHA, NE (Dakota News Now) – Whether in Little League or college it seems Sioux Falls’ native Marcus Phillips keeps finding his way into the World Series.

Seven years ago he was the star pitcher and hitter who led the Sioux Falls program to it’s first ever berth in the Little League World Series berth in Williamsport,Pennsylvania.

After graduating from Roosevelt and playing for the traveling Sioux Falls Cyclones team, Marcus spent a year at Iowa Western Community College before transferring to the University of Tennessee.

In his first season, working mostly as a relief pitcher, Marcus has appeared in 18 games, worked 19 innings, struck out 21 batters and held opponents to just a .214 batting average in helping the Vols (55-12) reach the College World Series.
