Six-foot boa constrictor, man and woman rescued from Cocke County house fire [Video]

PARROTTSVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – An elderly woman and man were rescued, along with a six-foot-long snake, from a Cocke County house fire early Tuesday morning, according to Daniel Henry with the Parrottsville Fire Department.

The call came in around 5:30 a.m., fire officials said, prompting crews to respond to a single-wide trailer on Ray’s Loop Road. When crews arrived on the scene, the house was reportedly in flames.

The Cocke County Fire Department also responded, and crews were able to keep the damage contained to the home’s kitchen and living room areas, Henry said.

As crews rescued two people from the home, a family member alerted first responders to a six-foot-long boa constrictor that was still inside.

“It is a life, and what we’re here for is preserving life and property, so that’s what we went to do,” said Patrick McLaughlin, a firefighter that responded to the fire.

First responders said they weren’t bothered by the snake.
