Smith County recognizes Texans on Mission for disaster relief [Video]

According to Smith County, County Judge Neal Franklin and Emergency Management Coordinator Brandon Moore presented volunteers with Texas on Mission – TBM, historically called Texas Baptist Men, with the Smith County Community Hero Award for their work helping residents clean up their properties after severe weather in late May and early June caused damage across East Texas. The county said the group helped more than 100 residents.

Incident Commander Jim Lawton said the group received 140 work orders from people asking for help to clear fallen trees on their property. Several teams worked to complete 100 of those orders and will continue to complete as many as possible before they leave Smith County on Saturday.
