A political faceoff has erupted in South Africa after President Cyril Ramaphosa signed the National Health Insurance Bill into law. President Ramaphosa says the bill is the biggest health policy overhaul that will end healthcare apartheid in the country. Opposition Democratic Alliance says it will challenge the law in court. The Democratic Alliance calls the law devastating and irrational and says President Ramaphosa’s signing of the bill was timed to the general election.
