Springfield-Branson National Airport hosts disaster drill [Video]

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Springfield-Branson National Airport Wednesday night hosted an emergency response event.

Officials try to make the disaster drills as realistic as possible for the first responders. It’s to see how they would react if there were a real emergency.

They did some role-playing. Actors pretended to be hurt and wore makeup and fake blood.

Firefighters from the airport, Springfield, and Willard, and other emergency crews took part in the exercise.

They had to put out a real fire on a prop plane and help the victims.

There were ambulances from local hospitals and Springfield-Greene County Emergency Management provided communications services and coordination.
