St. Francis Medical Center recognized nationally for quality stroke care [Video]

MONROE, La. (KNOE) – The American Heart Association recognized St. Francis Medical Center for the facility’s quality of care for stroke patients.

St. Francis Medical Center received the AHA’s Get With the Guidelines® – Stroke GoldPlus quality achievement award. This recognition is for healthcare facilities that provide the most appropriate treatment to stroke patients according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines.

Strokes are the fifth leading cause of death and a leading cause of disability in the U.S. They happen when a blood vessel cannot carry oxygen and nutrients to the brain due to a clot or burst.
