STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Melville Avenue schoolyard of PS 26 the Carteret School was the setting for a special Flag Day celebration on June 14, attended by students, faculty, family and friends.
In attendance were and Assemblyman Michael Reilly, who gave the opening remarks, and Councilman David Carr, who delivered the closing address.
“Our PS 26 annual Flag Day event brings together our entire community to honor our flag and veterans,” said PS 26 principal, Stephanie Bassett. “The day was truly special as our students sang beautiful songs that celebrate our country. Today you felt the spirit of patriotism and love for our country at PS 26.”
The Flag Day celebration included patriotic performances by the students of PS 26, located at 4108 Victory Blvd., a flag raising and light refreshments for invited guests.
