STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A memorial service in honor of the life and legacy of veterans advocate Lee Covino was held at the Father Capodanno Memorial Chapel in Fort Wadsworth on Saturday.

The service, hosted by Borough President Vito Fossella and Covino’s daughter, Mariel, was a celebration of his legacy of public service and support for veterans on Staten Island and nationally.

Pews of the Father Capodanno Memorial Chapel were filled with family, friends, veterans, members of Rolling Thunder, and several politicians to pay their respects to Covino, who passed away at the age of 72 in May.
