Students learn how to respond in multiple mass casualty simulations [Video]

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – On Friday, students in health care-related classes at the Career and Technical Education Academy learned how to be prepared for a tornado, a plane crash and a semi crashing into a building.

The students learned how to execute the best course of action in each scenario alongside the Sioux Falls Police Department, Fire Department and Patient Care EMS/Ambulance Service.

For students, it’s an invaluable job-training experience.

“We’ve read it in a book a thousand times, but just being able to be with the first responders and they’ve done this more than us, so they can just guide us and let us know if we’re on the right path,” said Kenzie Atwood, a senior at Tri-Valley who is part of an EMT class.
