Students sent home due to gas leak Buckeye Union High School [Video]

BUCKEYE, AZ (AZFamily) — Students were evacuated and dismissed early at a West Valley high school due to a gas leak on Friday.

The gas leak was reported around 10 a.m. at Buckeye Union High School. First responders found two buildings with strong odors of gas and picked up readings on gas meters.

The high school was evacuated as a safety precaution for students and staff, Buckeye Fire spokesperson Rayne Gray said. The City of Buckeye said the school has canceled classes for the day and is working with parents to get students home safely.

The Dr. Saide Rec Center is open for students who may need a place to go.
