Study names Georgia worst state for healthcare [Video]

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A new study from Forbes Advisor ranks Georgia’s healthcare as the worst in the nation.

The study took into account 26 different metrics. It cites high costs, few doctors compared to patients and unaffordable insurance plans.

Here are some highlights of the study:

• The second highest percentage of residents who chose not to see a doctor at some point in the past 12 months due to cost (15.50%)
• The third highest percentage of residents who lack health insurance coverage (12.63%)
• The fifth highest kidney disease mortality rate (18.87 deaths per 100,000 state residents)
• The eighth highest stroke mortality rate (44.27 deaths per 100,000 state residents)
• The eighth highest average deductible for residents with single health insurance coverage through an employer ($2,269 annually)
