(WFSB) – The driver accused of striking and killing Trooper Aaron Pelletier has entered a plea.
The driver, Alex Oyola-Sanchez, was not present in court Thursday, but his lawyer entered a plea of not guilty in his case.
Police said Oyola-Sanchez was under the influence when he struck Pelletier one week ago on i-84 in Southington.
Oyola-Sanchez admitted to taking several types of drugs that day to police.
He was charged with a list of charges, including failure to renew registration, illegal operation of a motor vehicle without minimum insurance, evading a fatal motor vehicle accident scene, illegal operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol/drugs, failure to drive in a proper lane, illegal operation without a license, and second-degree manslaughter.
Oyola-Sanchez’s case was continued to July 2.
