DECATUR, Ala. — The man Decatur police say injured a minor in a traffic incident over the weekend has turned himself in to authorities.

Dennis Mitchell turned himself in to the Decatur Police Department on Monday. He is charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injury. He was booked into the Morgan County Jail on a $2,500 bond.

Just after 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, officers were called to the intersection of Glenn St. SW and O’Malley Ave. to a report of a juvenile who had been stuck by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle left the scene.

The minor was taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and was released later Saturday night.
