Multiple emergency services rushed to the scene of a suspected oxygen leak this morning (Friday, April 5). Devon and Cornwall Police and Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue were called to a property in Knowle Avenue following reports of a suspected oxygen leak.
Around 9.35am, police received reports that a large oxygen tank at a sewage plant in Plymouth was leaking. Officers and fire crews raced to the scene and Wolseley Road is currently closed in both directions between Henderson Place and Saltash Road.
Eyewitnesses told PlymouthLive: “Avoid Wolseley Road between North prospect Lidl and Camelshead. Mass gathering of fire trucks and police cars at the sewage plant”. Another witness also said: “Fire engines and police. Can’t see smoke. Two fire engines from what I can see.”
