TAMU hopes QB Conner Weigman can take next step [Video]

DALLAS — It took 10 months, but Texas A&M quarterback Conner Weigman is healthy again after suffering a season-ending right foot injury that helped derail the Aggie season.

Weigman’s road to recovery was long and tiresome, A&M head coach Mike Elko said Thursday at the Southeastern Conference Media Days, adding that Weigman needs to take his game to the next level.

“It’s his third year of college football, but he’s only played in [nine] games,” Elko said. “So, he’s got to pack experience into his brain that he’s got to learn off the field. I think that’s going to be critical for him as we move forward.”

The Aggies have long had high hopes for Weigman. He was a five-star prospect out of Bridgeland High School in Cypress. He was part of A&M’s top-ranked 2022 recruiting class. As a freshman, he became A&M’s starter when the team had multiple injuries …
