Tax-free holiday weekend ahead of Hurricane season [Video]

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Hurricane season begins June 1 and many will be taking advantage of this weekend’s tax free holiday to prepare.

Starting this Saturday, April 27 through Monday, April 29 people can purchase emergency preparation supplies that will be tax exempted.

Longtime Sutherlands associate Angel Solis said shoppers can buy anything from portable generators to first aid kits but he urges people to pick up items before they sell out.

“You want to make sure that you just start preparing now, it just makes it whole lot better and easier,” Solis said.

He said not every item will be included in the tax exemption. Camping supplies, cleaning supplies, and plywood are some of the things that didn’t make the list.
