Teen dies after being hit by truck in south Wichita [Video]

On June 12, 2024, at approximately 8 p.m., Sedgwick County Emergency Communications received a report of an injury collision near 44th St South and Hoover. Initial reports indicated that a juvenile had been struck by a vehicle.

Upon arrival, first responders located 15-year-old Daniel Collier of Wichita with critical injuries sustained from the collision. Daniel was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Daniel was riding a bicycle when he was struck by a vehicle driven by a 35-year-old woman from Wichita. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating fully with the investigation.

The Wichita Police Department’s Accident Follow-up Investigators are diligently reviewing all available evidence to understand the events leading up to the collision.

This incident marks the 17th traffic fatality of 2024.
