Tenants of REM Capital-owned apartments begin taking legal action [Video]

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – Tenants of apartments owned by REM Capital say they are joining a lawsuit against the company filed by the City of Cincinnati.

Residents met at a meeting on Thursday to take steps to find new ownership. City officials met with residents to discuss what action they want the court to take.

“They’ve come together,” said attorney Nick DiNardo of the Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati. “They’re going to form a resident association so they have a voice in the lawsuit the city filed against the property owner.”

DiNardo said once residents join the suit they can give input on the appointment of a receiver or ask the court what they think the owner should do.

The building commission and health department said they need a record of complaints if tenants want to force changes. They said residents could call 311 officials to document issues at the …
