Tesla on jury trial after toddler crashes Model X into pregnant mother [Video]

In 2018, Mallory Harcourt— a pregnant woman and the owner of a Tesla Model X— found herself in a rather terrifying situation. 

Harcourt, who was eight and a half months pregnant, and her husband Adam purchased a Tesla Model X earlier that month, believing Tesla’s claims for it to be the “safest SUV on the market.” 

However, the vehicle proved contrary to the company’s claims. On December 27, 2018, just two days after Christmas and four after their purchase, Harcourt’s 2-year-old son was able to start the car, leading to the vehicle moving forward and hitting her at their home in Santa Barbara, California.
