The Brain Bus stops in Fairbanks [Video]

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) – The Brain Bus pulled into Fairbanks on Wednesday with its traveling team of specialists. Their mission – to reach out to a hidden epidemic.

“The purpose of the Brain Bus is to get services for people with brain injuries out into rural Alaska,” said Alaska Brain Injury Consortium Executive Director Adam Grove. “There are very little resources, very little awareness about brain injury so we envision the Brain Bus as a way to go to a community, bring experts, live in the bus, work in the bus, so that’s what we’ve been doing.”

The mobile clinic says that Alaska leads the nation in traumatic brain injuries; and our rate of traumatic brain injury deaths, at 35 per 100,000 people, is more than twice that of any other state.
