CHICAGO — It was a violent holiday weekend across the city with 30 shootings and one deadly stabbing.
According to crime data released by Chicago police on Monday, nine people were killed and 32 others were injured in the shootings and one person was fatally stabbed.

Among those killed was 5-year-old Reign Ware, who was fatally shot while sitting in a parked car on South Campbell Avenue early Sunday morning.
The search for the child’s killer continues.
On Tuesday, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson discussed the violent weekend.
“We continue to offer support services for these families who are dealing with this trauma and the loss. We all grieve together,” Johnson said. “You know, look, there’s a lot of work to be done still, no one is going to deny that. What I can say though is homicides and shootings are down, they are.”
