NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Davidson County is now ranked second in the country for metro area overdoses, according to a study from the San Francisco Chronicle. A recent spike alert this month shows the trend isn’t slowing down, and finding a solution isn’t easy.

However, Metro Nashville Police, Partners in Care and several other community partners are working to decrease fatalities with the help of a box.

“The real purpose of it, is to save lives,” Sgt. Michael Hotz of MNPD’s Special Investigations Division said. His primary focus is to investigate drug overdose deaths.

“Inside the box, there are two doses of the opioid overdose reversal medication. One of the cooler features in Onebox is that there is a flipped-down screen that actually plays a video and talks somebody through the process of how to reverse an opioid overdose,” Hotz explained.
