PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A cadet with the Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol rescued a fawn stranded on a steep hillside near a pair of hungry coyotes on June 6.

Marine Deputy Dennis Greiner and Cadet Brodie Cloud found the fawn while recovering a canoe from a fatal boating accident on the Nehalem River.

“While approaching the area of the capsizing, they observed two coyotes on an island interested in something on a small cliff on the opposite side of the river,” the Sheriff’s Office said. “They realized it was a deer fawn that had fallen off the edge and was unable to climb back up to its awaiting mother on top.”
