LGCR’s sanctuary monitors the weather daily to manage senior dog health conditions affected by the weather. A threat of a different kind occurred last week when the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a tornado warning.

Pet preparedness is everything because the average time between a tornado warning and a strike is thirteen minutes. Last week, staff and volunteers performed the tornado warning protocol to ensure all residents living in the Gracie Bunkhouse were moved to the storm shelter inside Big Dog Bunkhouse. They executed the preparedness plan by moving all forty-eight residents in ten minutes.
