Town Hall meeting on Friday on the impact of wildfire threat on insurance [Video]

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – As we talk about fire danger risk, there’s a growing concern among homeowners, that they could lose their insurance and several major insurance companies have been dropping coverage in fire-prone areas.

To address some of those concerns the Nevada Division of Insurance is hosting a town hall meeting. Wildfire activity across the west has led to higher homeowner insurance rates and challenges to insurance companies when issuing insurance policies in certain areas including the Tahoe Basin.

So, the Division of Insurance wants to hear directly from those impacted. Community members will also get to hear what the division is working on to address those concerns.

Incline Village realtors have also been collecting data to send to the insurance commissioner for the state of Nevada to then use to write legislation to help.
