Train company investigating deadly train accident in Bainbridge [Video]

BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WALB) – A man has died after being hit by a train in Bainbridge on Saturday morning.

At around 9:37 a.m., a pedestrian was walking across the railroad tracks at the intersection of Albany Road and Back Street in Bainbridge, according to Bainbridge Public Safety Captain Charles Strickland.

Officials have confirmed that the victim was a Bainbridge resident and was deaf.

The victim was walking south on Albany Road when he crossed over the train tracks and was hit head-on by a train.

Camera footage shows the victim walking over the tracks and being struck by the front of the train, according to Strickland.

The victim was treated by EMS and life-flighted to a hospital in Tallahassee where he died from his injuries.

The identity of the man is unknown at this time as the family has not yet been notified.
