Two dead after crash on I-44 in SW Oklahoma City [Video]

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – Two people were killed in a crash along I-44 in southwest Oklahoma City early Tuesday morning.

“It’s just really sad. It’s horrible,” said Tomi Bonar.

Bonar told KFOR she was meeting her boyfriend on a trail along I-44 near Southwest 29th when he frantically ran up to her, asking for help.

“He was asking me for a flashlight,” said Bonar. “There was a lady that was trapped in her vehicle.”

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, around 1 a.m., a car heading southbound ran off the roadway and struck a pole.

“It’s unknown if or how many times that vehicle rolled. But upon arrival, that vehicle was on its side,” said OHP Trooper Preston Cox. “The passenger and driver were both in the vehicle.”

Troopers said the driver died at the scene.

While Bonor’s boyfriend freed the passenger.
