Two of three millage proposals pass in Jackson County in May 7 election [Video]

JACKSON COUNTY, MI – A sparse turnout on a stormy election day brought mixed results for some Jackson County school and public safety millage proposals.

Voters approved two of the three items on the Tuesday, May 7, ballot in Jackson County. A renewal of Concord Community Schools’ sinking fund and the renewal of a police millage in Napoleon Township passed, while a $9.9-million bond extension in East Jackson Community Schools was rejected by voters.

Voters approved the five-year renewal of Concord’s sinking fund, with 370 yes votes to 276 no votes, according to election results compiled by the county.

“We are incredibly excited about the results of the election,” Superintendent Becky Hutchinson said. “We cannot thank our community enough for their continued support. With the sinking fund renewed, we will be able to keep our maintenance and renovation schedule intact.”
