NORMAL (25News Now) – It’s expected to be an emotional weekend in the Twin Cities as murdered Grove Elementary teacher Amy Moore will be laid to rest.
Unit 5, McLean County’s largest school district, reopened the school last week to provide resources and support.
Moore, 48, was a second-grade teacher in the district for nearly 20 years and graduated from the district herself. She had three children, all boys, and lived in Normal before being fatally shot, allegedly by her ex-husband who then killed himself, said Normal Police.
The tragedy has sparked an outpouring of sympathy for her sons. A GoFundMe page set up by Moore’s brother has raised almost $372,000, coming from almost 3,000 donors.
At Unit 5, the district made school psychologists and counselors available. Project Linus gave children handmade blankets. Food was provided and some kids made art projects.
