Virginia football QBs benefit from use of helmet cameras [Video]

With every video clip, there is the chance for quarterback Tony Muskett, his teammates or his coaches to learn through his point of view.

Virginia’s football program, for the first time this past spring, mounted a camera above the signal-callers’ — Muskett’s and fellow QB Anthony Colandrea’s — facemasks on the front bumper of their helmets for 14 practices and the annual Blue-White scrimmage.

“If we’re going through a progression,” Cavaliers quarterbacks coach Taylor Lamb said, “and you could see Tony’s eyes popping from frontside to backside, you could see that he’s looking in the right spot, so you get the intel as to where he’s looking.”

Said Muskett: “And with our receivers and getting them to watch it a little bit, it helps them understand our throwing progressions.
