Vision Zero is failing in NYC. So lets put in a bunch more speed bumps (opinion) [Video]

As part of a massive increase, the city Department of Transportation is installing new speed bumps at 65 locations on Staten Island this year.

Last year, just 16 of the of the vehicle-slowing bumps were installed here.

It’s an admission that Vision Zero just isn’t cutting it when it comes to keeping New York City’s streets free of deadly accidents.

The group in April announced that the first quarter of 2024 was the deadliest first quarter since Vision Zero was introduced in 2014.

Sixty New Yorkers were killed on the road in the first three months of the year, the group said, up 50% from numbers seen in 2018, which had the safest first quarter that the city has seen under Vision Zero.
